Gemini Visibility Checker: Check if Google Gemini mentions your startup

We capture live Gemini answers to the questions your buyers ask and show whether Gemini names you, where you rank, and who it recommends instead. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode are checked in the same scan.

Includes a dedicated Gemini check

The category a buyer would ask AI about, not your tagline.

  • Results in ~1–2 minutes
  • 6 AI engines

We ask each engine 3 buyer questions and 1 question about your brand. Your scan stays private. See how it works.

How it decides

How Gemini decides what to recommend

Gemini is Google's AI assistant, and it can draw on Google Search when it answers. That gives it a different set of inputs from ChatGPT or Claude.
  1. It can ground answers in Google Search

For questions about products and vendors, Gemini can pull in fresh results from Google's index. Pages Google can crawl, index and understand are the pages that can feed its answers.

  2. It builds lists from pages that compare

Like other assistants, Gemini assembles shortlists from pages that already list and compare tools: reviews, roundups and comparison pages. Your homepage alone rarely puts you on the list.

  3. It's not the same as Google's other AI

Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode are separate products. They often recommend different brands for the same question, so showing up in one says little about the others.

  4. The answer depends on the session

Answers vary between runs, model versions and signed-in accounts. A clean, repeatable check tells you more than a single look in your own account.

What we check

What we check for Gemini

For each of your three buyer questions, we read Gemini's answer and record four things.

Mentioned

Whether Gemini names your brand or domain anywhere in its answer.

Rank in the list

Where you appear in Gemini's recommendations, and how many options it gave.

Cited as a source

Whether Gemini linked to your domain among its sources, when it shows any.

Who's named instead

Every other brand Gemini recommends, lined up against what AI Overviews and AI Mode say.

Method

How we query Gemini

A live answer captured from the Gemini app (DataForSEO LLM Scraper). Falls back to the Gemini API with Google Search grounding.

Gemini answers vary between runs and accounts. If the app capture fails, the API fallback uses Google Search grounding, and your report shows which one answered.

Plus: three Google answers, side by side

Your report puts Gemini next to AI Overviews and AI Mode for the same questions, so you can see which Google surface knows you and which doesn't.

Inside the report

What Gemini's row looks like

Every scan gives Gemini a row like this: your three buyer questions, whether you were named, where you ranked, whether your site was cited, and who was named instead.

Levers

What tends to move Gemini

Gemini sits on top of Google's understanding of the web, so Google-friendly fundamentals pay off twice.
  1. Get the Google basics right

Crawlable pages, accurate titles and a site Google indexes fully. Search Console will tell you if key pages are missing from the index.

  2. Be on the roundups Google surfaces

Look at the sources your report lists for Gemini and the two Google AI surfaces. Those roundups and review sites are your outreach list.

  3. Make your entity unmistakable

Use the same name, description and category on your site, social profiles and directories, and add Organization schema to your homepage, so Google can connect the dots.

  4. Know your Google-Extended setting

This robots.txt token controls some Gemini uses of your content. Blocking it is a valid choice, but know the trade-off before you make it.

Gemini visibility questions

How we check Gemini, what the results mean, and what you can do about them.

No. They're three separate Google surfaces that can give three different answers. Gemini is Google's AI assistant app. AI Overviews are the AI summaries shown above some Google results. AI Mode is a conversational search mode inside Google Search. Our free scan checks all three, so you can see where you show up and where you don't.

We capture a live answer from the Gemini app for each of your three buyer questions. If that capture fails, we fall back to the Gemini API with Google Search grounding. Your report shows which mode answered.

It helps, because Gemini can ground its answers in Google Search, so pages Google can find and understand feed its answers. It isn't a guarantee: Gemini still decides which brands to name, and it leans on pages that compare options, not only on your homepage.

Google-Extended is a robots.txt token that controls whether Google may use your content to train Gemini models and to ground some Gemini answers. Google says it doesn't affect your inclusion or ranking in Google Search. If you block it, Gemini may know less about you. Check what your robots.txt says before assuming either way.

Different models, different search systems and different sources. Gemini draws on Google's index, while ChatGPT runs its own searches. That's why a brand can lead in one and be absent in the other, and why checking a single engine can mislead you.
